Pristine
Systems Content Delivery System (CDS32) supports PRSS Content Depot.
Versions of CDS32 with extended
support for PRSS Content Depot are currently in beta testing and
slated for release in Spring of 2005 as CDS version 3.0.
As of this post (2/28/2005) PRSS
is still in the process of revising and fine tuning the Content
Depot standards. Version 1.4 of the spec should be released soon.
CDS v3.0 already supports this version.
CDS32's support of PRSS Content
Depot goes beyond the published "Basic Automation System"
specs. Where other vendors systems support up to this level only,
Pristine offers a complete automation interface.
All customers receiving the CDS v3.0
update will receive the full Content Depot update at no additional
charge.
A FREE
'Compatibility Update' is available for
EVERY CDS32
Workstation to import and play the MP2
files from public radio Content Depot receivers.
The following is a copy of our compliance statement.
Automation System Integration
PSI Content Delivery System (CDS or CDS32)
and PRSS ContentDepot (CD)
March 3, 2005
by: George
Thomas, VP R&D
Pristine Systems, Inc.
Introduction
The
purpose of this document is to serve as a statement of compliance
and to describe the level of integration between Pristine Systems’
CDS32 and PRSS’ ContentDepot. It is the intention of Pristine
Systems to provide an interface that exceeds the “basic automation
system” requirements.
Versions
The
minimum version of CDS32 required for integration with CD is version
2.2 revision 10, released March 2, 2005. Current CDS32
customers are scheduled to receive this capability in update version 3.0 to be distributed in Spring 2005.
This
interface and document were developed to meet the specifications set
forth in PRSS “Vendor_Automation_System_Integration_Interface_v1.4.doc”,
dated January 27, 2005 and “Technical
specifications of interface between Content Depot Delivery Subsystem
and Station Automation System” version 1.1, dated December 3,
2004.
It
is the intention of Pristine Systems to update the interface as
necessary to meet future PRSS specifications or to provide
additional capabilities.
Models
The
CDS32 product line consists of three models, ‘Live Assist’,
‘Satellite Automation’, and ‘Pro’ (Music-on-Hard-Drive).
Basic
Support
All
models
of CDS32 include the capability to retrieve and play audio files
from CD storage receiver(s), as well as the ability to read and edit
their Wav header, Cart chunk, and metadata. Exceptions will be noted
where specific equipment may be necessary to perform more advanced
functions.
File
Retrieval & Database Entry
Manual
All
models
of CDS32 have the ability to manually retrieve audio files from a CD
storage receiver via Windows Explorer or other file transfer
utility. All models include the Cart
Information Editor, which may be used to manually enter the file
into the automation system database. By default, the Cart
Information Editor is populated with data from the Wav header and
Cart chunk.
Automated
All
models
of CDS32 include the FileXpress
utility, which can automatically retrieve audio files (based upon
Cut ids or full filenames) from a CD storage receiver according to a
user defined weekly schedule. FileXpress
can retrieve files based upon Cut ids or full filenames. A database
entry is automatically created from each file’s WAV header and
Cart Chunk. Once a weekly schedule has been created, no further
user intervention is required for proper retrieval and playback of
Content Depot audio files.
An
included SMTP Email Client
will notify the proper person
(according to a weekly schedule) in the event of a file transfer
failure.
A
single running copy of FileXpress
may service multiple workstations and storage receivers on the LAN.
It is possible to run FileXpress
and the Email Client on a server to reduce the workload on the
automation system if desired.
Live
Audio Routing and Machine Interface
CDS32
Satellite Automation
or CDS32 Pro software is required. When connected with
Broadcast Tools or similar audio switcher, live streams from IDC
decoders may be routed for recording and/or live broadcast. Contact
closures may be acted upon as well.
Content
Production
All
models
of CDS32 include the ability to record MPEG1, Layer 2 audio files.
The Cart Information Editor is capable of producing Cart chunks and
metadata conforming to the aforementioned PRSS specifications
